From Research Idea to Publication: Brainstorming, Team Building, and Scientific Impact
On February 11-12, 2026, the Deanship of the Scientific Research Center at the University of Duhok conducted a two-day course covering pure and applied sciences. The course was titled: "From Research Idea to Publication: Brainstorming, Team Building, and Scientific Impact." Approximately 50 faculty members and researchers attended the event, which aimed to enhance researchers' skills regarding modern methodologies and the journey of a research paper from inception to publication. The sessions were led by two prominent academics:
Day One (Wednesday, Feb 11, 2026): Prof. Dr. Raghad Yousif Mohammed presented a session titled "From Research Idea to Publication." She detailed the process of how a research idea originates and evolves into a formal title. Furthermore, she elaborated on the practical steps required to complete a study, supported by real-world examples. Her presentation also covered the technicalities of writing abstracts, introductions, data collection, analysis, and referencing. The session concluded with an open Q&A discussion.
Day Two (Feb 12, 2026): Asst. Prof. Ghazwan Ahmed Mohammed conducted a session titled "How to Make a Brainstorming Research Team." He defined brainstorming as a creative collective method used to generate a large volume of ideas and solutions by encouraging the mind to think freely and without boundaries. He highlighted how research teams can be formed through brainstorming sessions, where participants discuss various perspectives until a viable research topic is identified and a specialized working group is established
